MDCC represented the Wagga region in both the open boys and open girls competitions after winning the regional championships last month.
The girls team dropped just one game in their five pool matches, to qualify for the quarter-finals, against Queenswood School from Sydney's north shore.
With the scores locked at 1-all at full-time, the game went to golden goal extra time before MDCC were brought undone.
Coach Gary Lyons was immensely proud of the efforts from his team which included one year seven and three year eight students.
"They did exceptionally well. We won three round games, drew one and lost one. And we lost our final by the narrowest of margins," Lyons said.
"They performed extremely well given we have three girls at the top of the age bracket but from there the average age of our team is quite young."
Senior players Mackenzie Gough, Tia Lyons and Brandy Nicholson led the way in a strong team effort which Lyons said was a marked improvement on last year.
"It was quite a high standard and I think the girls managed to be effective because with the Wagga Futsal comp running for a few years now, the girls really are able to play the game properly and they're well and truly aware of what's required to play at that level," he said.
MDCC's only loss (3-0) in the pool rounds was to one of the top two overall qualifiers from all pools.
"Even in the game we lost, the girls were pressuring well and defending well. It was a massive improvement on last year and I put that down to the fact that the girls who played in this team, apart from our goalkeeper, all play futsal, and they play together for the Wanderers," Lyons said.
Mater Dei's open boys team narrowly missed out on qualifying for finals after two wins, a draw and two losses in their pool games.
Mater Dei Primary School and The Riverina Anglican College will send teams to NSW Schools Championships for younger age groups next week.
