Wagga and District Greyhound Racing Club will host qualifying heats and a final for the second edition of the Million Dollar Chase.
After the success of the inaugural series last year, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) announced this week that the event will return for a second year.
Again, the winner of the grand final will walk away with the $1 million prize.
Wagga will host qualifying heats on Friday, September 20 with the final scheduled for Saturday, September 28.
Wagga and District Greyhound Racing Club racing manager John Patton said it was terrific news for the club.
"It's great," Patton said.
"We'll look to make it bigger and better than last year."
Wagga is one of 14 regional centres that will host heat and finals and this year these events will supply 56 of the 64 semi-finalists.
The other eight spots will come from eight 'last chance' city qualifiers at Wentworth Park on October 5.
This year, the first four in each regional final will qualify for the October 11 semi-finals, as opposed to only the winner and runner up last year.
The final will then be held at Wentworth Park on Friday, October 18.
GRNSW will also invest in additional promotion for Wagga's regional final with 'festival-style entertainment' featuring the likes of Travis Collins and Adam Harvey to be part of the September 28 meeting.
GRNSW chief executive Tony Mestrov said this year's series will have a greater focus on the grass roots of the sport in regional NSW.
"The increased focus on regional centres in 2019, and less city qualifiers, will see those regions attract interstate owners and trainers, and intrastate visitors, across all parts of NSW with the goal to generate economic benefit to many regions of NSW," Mestrov said.
"Due to the uniqueness and magnitude of the event, significant Australian and worldwide interest was created last year and GRNSW aims to build on that momentum in 2019."
Tabcorp has come on board as the major sponsor of this year's event.
