An Eldershaw Drive home in Forest Hill was shot up shortly before dawn, when a man was woken by the sound of a motorbike outside around 5.30am.
Shortly after, he heard a loud bang and saw a large hole in the window, which investigators believe was caused by a shotgun.
A motorbike was heard leaving the area shortly after, police say.
Inspector Adrian Telfer from Wagga police said dashcam footage could be the key to discovering the whereabouts and identity of a man seen with a gun shortly before the shot was fired.
"Shortly before 5.30am, 6am we believe there was a number of vehicles in that area, travelling possibly to the airport for the early flights," he said.
"If there's anyone in that area who may have dashcam footage, please come forward.
"The motorbike was last seen travelling south on Elizabeth Avenue, towards Inglewood Road, so we're really appealing for anyone travelling to the airport this morning to come forward."

The man is described as being around six feet tall, with a slim build and possibly wearing a white motorcycle helmet.
"He was seen armed with a firearm in that area (before) one round was discharged into the home," Inspector Telfer said.
"We certainly believe this was a targeted incident, we can assure the public that this wasn't random."
Three people were home at the time of the shooting, Inspector Telfer said. No one was injured.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man, or the red and white motorbike, in the area to contact police.
Investigations are continuing and anyone with information relating to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or using the online reporting page.
