The Albury galloper was given every chance by Richards and dashed away from his rivals in the straight to score by 1.5 lengths.
The Cup win continued a hot streak for Richards, who has ridden 10 winners in the past month.
Squiddensquizz ($4.00) saluted from the fast-finishing Amthaal ($4.40) and well-supported Wyangle ($3.40).
Albury trainer Ron Stubbs paid tribute to Richards for a perfect winning ride.
"Full credit to Josh," Stubbs said.
"He hasn't had that many rides for me but he's never ridden a bad race.
"He's a very promising young rider."
Squidensquizz's victory provided Stubbs with his first Narrandera Cup win.
It also completed a plan that was more than 12 months in the making.
"It's a big thrill," Stubbs said.
"We actually set him for the race last year but he was at the bottom of the weights and got balloted out.
"This year he was the top weight and got the job done."
The Cup triumph took Squidensquizz's record to seven wins and a further nine placings from 36 starts and took his career earnings to $130,000.
Stubbs praised the seven-year-old's consistency.
"Last prep he put two or three together but his strength is his honesty," he said.
"He's always thereabouts. I'm not sure what his place percentage is but it would be very, very high."
Stubbs has no concrete plans for Squidensquizz but will entertain the idea of a start in the $32,000 Forbes Cup (1600m) on Monday, August 5.
The Cup win capped off a good day for Southern District connections with Easy Leica ($4.20), Working Together ($7.50), Nessledo ($11.00), Bezazzled ($4.60) and Damselfly's Kept ($4.40) all winning.
Leading bush jockey Mathew Cahill took riding honours with a winning double, courtesy of Easy Leica for Robert Anderson and the Craig Widdison-trained Magnavale ($2.60).
