Firefighters feared the worst when they arrived at the Menzies Avenue house on Tuesday night, responding to reports of smoke coming from the tiled roof and concerns that people were at home.
"There were reports that people may have been inside, so crews made forced entry through the front and rear doors," Turvey Park Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) station officer Chad Kennis said.
"We found a relatively small fire in the front lounge room, and did a search and found nobody inside."
The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 to 20 minutes, with the flames held to the front of the small single-level fibro house.
"There was smoke and heat damage (through the house) but the actual fire was contained to the front living room, furniture and floor," Mr Kennis said.
"It's burned through the floorboards and dropped down underneath."
