McDonald earned a trip to the Gold Coast for being the most successful trainer at the venue last season and lines up eight chances on Friday night.
He rates Dana Corporal the best.
The Cowra trainer expects the 103-start veteran will appreciate a return to masters grade.
"He likes racing against the older ones, the young ones are too quick for him now," McDonald said.
"Now he's getting on a bit the 320 is enough, the 400 is probably testing him now."
He expects Dana Gem will be well suited from the one box later in the night while despite having last start winners Chatta Poochie (one) and Getalong Dana (two) boxed well in the feature event of the night, the Wagga Tile Centre Stakes (320m), suspects they are running for second with Al's Desire drawn in box eight.
