"Joe was a legend in soul, he passed away in 2014 and I just love his whole body of work," Parkinson said.
"People compare me to him but I obviously haven't had the stellar international career so I love to do it justice."
Parkinson is best known for hits like his chart-topping version of The Beatles' Dear Prudence and original song The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore.
"The hardest part of this hsow was choosing what songs to leave out," he said.
"The first half will be all my top hits and favourite, and the second half will be devoted entirely to Joe Cocker, so the crowd gets both sides to the coin."
The show has been running for close to three years now and Parkinson said it was exciting to finally come to the bigger regional areas like Wagga.
"I have been before but not for a while so I really can't wait, there is such a beautiful theatre in Wagga," he said.
"We've had a lot of fun and a lot success and hope that continues."
The show will hit Wagga Civic Theatre stage on July 27.
