Director Angela Boulton said the atmosphere among the cast was a buzz of nerves and excitement.
"The cast have rehearsed for four months now and the talent is unbelievable, but naturally there are some nerves as they're busting to get out on stage," she said.
Today has been a day of finishing touches to costume alterations, hair and makeup, and Mrs Roberts offered some words of advice to her cast.
"In the lead up to big opening nights like this I always try and reassure them that they know exactly what they're doing," she said.
"We are really lucky with how much talent we have here in Wagga and even a few are new to musical theatre but they've really taken on the challenge and nailed it."
Wagga's Civic Theatre is almost at capacity for tonight's performance, with only about 50 spare tickets from a total of 450.
"It's great for the cast to have a really big crowd for the opening night with their friends and family coming to give them that extra support," Mrs Roberts said.
