The man, known as Benson Lucas, is of Caucasian appearance, about 175 centimetres tall, has a large build, brown hair and brown eyes.
The 34-year-old was last seen on July 5 at a Hay residence on Meakes Street.
The man failed to attend an appointment on Monday and officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District were notified.
His vehicle was located on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River yesterday after police conducted a search at local camp grounds following reports he frequently leaves town for camping.
The State Emergency Services assisted police with a search of the river banks, however the man has not been located.
A further land and water search was conducted earlier today, with the assistance of SES personnel. It has been suspended and will resume tomorrow morning.
Police and family have concerns for his welfare and are now appealing for public assistance.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Hay police immediately or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
