The United Service Station on the corner of Urana Street and Bourke Street was broken into earlier this morning as part of an attempted theft.
The service station was unoccupied at the time of the break and enter, according to Riverina Police District Superintendent Bob Noble, who said it was suspected to be carried out by more than one person.
"It is believed the thieves tried to remove a cash safe but were unsuccessful," he said.
The service station remains closed temporarily and the police are appealing for information from the public to help with the investigation.
