THEY were taught a lesson on the field, but Wagga City Wanderers youngster Megan Castle hopes to take what she's learned from the tough Canberra competition into the national girls 14-15 years youth championships at Coffs Harbour.

The Wanderers proved no match for a classy Canberra FC in a 10-0 loss at Gissing Oval on Sunday, Castle starved of chances against one of the National Premier League Canberra's top teams.
Tumut's Castle and young goalkeeper Samantha Emms, who sat on the first grade bench, are among six Wagga players selected to represent NSW Country from July 13-19.
Both will play for the under-15 team and Castle is confident of a strong showing.
"We should go pretty well. We've got some really skillful players, but it will be tough," she said.
Although the Wanderers have won just two of 12 games in their first season in the Canberra league, Emms said the experience will ultimately improve their play long term.
"It's definitely more challenging but that's good, it'll make us improve our match and we'll be able to show that on the pitch in the future," Emms said.
"We had a lot of teams backing up from reserve grade and under-17s."
The Wanderers trailed Canberra FC 6-0 at half-time and conceded three more in 15 minutes after the break, but allowed just one more goal in the final half hour to limit the damage.
