About 9pm on January 6, a senior constable attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended a social function.
Police allege the man had been drinking alcohol and left the venue driving a motor vehicle.
The matter was reported to police who commenced inquiries.
Following investigations, the officer was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offence of driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol - first offence.
He is due to appear at Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.
