Since the scheme began in late 2017, North Wagga Woolworth's collection site processed 13.6 million deposits, just behind Granville with 14.8 million and Marrickville with 14.3 million.
Other sites across Wagga have seen significant contributions, with the East Wagga Woolworths collection point stacking up 11.2 million, and the Vinnies bulk container deposit point reaching more than 1.5 million since opening in mid-April.
Collectively, the Return and Earn scheme has accumulated two billion drink containers since its beginning in NSW and minister for environment Matt Kean said the community effort was to be commended.
"The people of NSW have helped us achieve a 57 per cent reduction in eligible drink container litter volume since Return and Earn started in December 2017," he said.
"Millions of people - one in every two adults in NSW - have changed their everyday recycling patterns and are doing their bit to reduce litter and collect their 10 cent refund."
Environmental Protection Authority acting CEO Mark Gifford labelled the scheme 'incredibly successful'.
"Approximately half of all adults in NSW have used the scheme and it has fundamentally changed people's thinking and behaviour towards litter," he said.
Economic benefits were also positive.
"It has created more than 500 new jobs in the recycling and sustainability industry," Mr Kean said.
"As Return and Earn continues towards the 3 billion milestone, it will continue to expand on its partnerships to improve the environment and benefit the NSW community."
