Wagga MP Joe McGirr said the boost to the electorate is welcomed, but it was well short of the numbers the NSW Police Association said were needed.
This first injection comes as part of the Coalition's $583 million promise to provide 1500 additional officers across four years.
According to the NSW Government, these numbers amount to the single biggest investment for the Police Force in more than 30 years.
Dr McGirr said Tuesday's allocations across the state made up almost half of the 450 officers set to hit the beat between now and July 2020.
"Community safety must be a priority for our electorate as we look to grow," he said.
"I would like to see a focus on boosting numbers in Wagga and Tumut in particular."
Dr McGirr said he and Mayor Greg Conkey had met with the NSW Police Force deputy-commissioner Gary Worboys twice this year, to put forward a case for additional officers across the district.
He said this comes after the Police Association of NSW last year reported 43 police officers would be required to adequately address the crime rate across the Riverina Police District.
"I will be looking forward to the coming allocation and future appointments and we will be monitoring the effects these additional numbers have on incidents of crime," Dr McGirr said.
"Clearly, this is a positive start."
