That's the long term goal of Tumut swimmer Ashley van Rijswijk, who will represent Australia for the first time at October's Global Games in Queensland, before setting her sights on wearing the green and gold at next year's Paralympics.
The 18-year-old, now training at Canberra's Australian Institute of Sport after securing a Swimming Australia scholarship, qualified for this year's world championships in South Korea, but was ineligible to compete as she wasn't internationally classified.
She will take part in classification in Brisbane, where she will compete in breaststroke in the S14 class for swimmers with intellectual disabilities.
The Wagga Wagga Swim Club member has her sights set on next year's Paralympics in Tokyo, and holds five Australian records for breaststroke in her class.
At this year's national championships in Adelaide she set an Australian qualifying time in winning silver in the 100m breaststroke and broke her Australian record on her way to bronze in the 50m breaststroke.
"That's her main goal, and the Global Games is a stepping stone to Tokyo," her father Craig said.
"She qualified for the world champs (this year) but because not internationally classified, she wasn't able to be part of the team, and that process will start in Brisbane.
"We were travelling across to Wagga six times a week for her to train but because of her performance at the nationals she's been on a scholarship with Swimming Australia."
"It's her second international event, but the first time she will represent Australia so it's a pretty big deal for her."
