Cunningham has been sidelined for the past seven weeks with a torn adductor but is closing in on a return to the field.
Sydney officials could bring Cunningham back in as soon as Saturday afternoon's clash with Gold Coast at Sydney Cricket Ground.
"Harry had been tracking really well up until two weeks ago around the bye," Sydney's head of football Charlie Gardiner told the Swans website this week.
"He put in a solid training load but pulled up a little bit sore. We eased him off, he's feeling much better, he's been reintroduced to training this week and if he's not available for selection this week I expect he will be next week."
Sydney face Essendon at the MCG the following week.
