After almost three years with Wagga trainer Wayne Carroll, Wright has moved to Albury and joined the Beer stable on loan.
She has already ridden 13 winners since making her race riding debut in August last year.
Wright, 26, is looking forward to the next chapter of her career.
"I kind of wanted a change and to get away from Wagga at a bigger stable with more opportunities," Wright said.
"Mitch (Beer) called and said he was looking to put on an apprentice soon so it all fell into place at the right time.
"It was the next step in my career, to join a bigger stable, and Mitch is a young, up and coming trainer, who has a lot of horses in work and is going all over the place with them.
"Hopefully it's the step up I need."
Wright enjoyed her first race win at Tumut last November on the Andrew Sheahan-trained Country Limerick.
Her biggest day at the track to date also came at Tumut on Boxing Day when she rode a winning treble.
Wright also enjoyed on a win on Fashion Tip for Carroll and said it was a hard decision to leave his stable.
"It was, Wayne was always good to me and gave me a lot of opportunities to get me up and going," she said.
"It was almost like another family."
Wright believes her new base on the border will provide her with the right opportunities to further her career.
"I'm really excited," she said.
"Mitch has 50 horses in work has the likes of John Kissick and Jordan Mallyon working for him so there are some really good jockeys to learn from and helps me improve my riding as well. He also has Nikita Beriman ride for him, who is another good jockey to aspire to."
Wright is now being managed by Kissick.
She plans to continue riding across the Southern District as well as Victoria in the future.
