A Bulldogs goal in the dying minutes handed them back the lead to claim a 12.15 (87) to 12.10 (82) victory at Narrandera Sportsground.
Turvey Park led by seven points at the first two breaks and 10 points at the final change but the Eagles swooped on the late in the final term.
It was only shortlived as the Bulldogs replied with the match-winner and kept their faint finals hopes alive.
Narrandera co-coach Jamie Grintell described it was one that got away.
"It was very disappointing, but that's the way it goes," Grintell said.
"It was ours to lose, but in saying that we never hit the lead until the last quarter and Turvey were good."
Ashcroft, Jeremy Sykes, Luke Cuthbert and Alex Carroll were among Turvey Park's best.
Blake Renet was outstanding for the Eagles, while Dale Quilter had his best game of the year. Cooper Irons was also dangerous and finished with 2.6 for the day.
The win keeps Turvey Park within a game, plus percentage, of fifth spot at the halfway mark of the season, while Narrandera is one win further back.
