After ending their closest rivals winning streak to start the season, the Boiled Lollies were hammered 77-18.
It's put them in danger of slipping out of the top four of the first time with just six points separating five teams heading into round nine
Curgenven believes the clash against Tumut at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday will be key to their season.
"The next two weeks is potentially make or break for our season," Curgenven said.
"It's very close now between third and sixth now and if we drop games against Tumut and Griffith in the next couple of weeks then we will slide out of the top four.
"We've got a hard couple of games at the end of the year going to Albury and Leeton so we need to make sure we get the results at our home games."
Curgenven is looking to control the ball better against a Bulls outfit who have also been struggling to recapture their best form.
They've lost four of their last five games to slip to fifth and will drop to sixth, and possibly seventh, if they come up short.
"Last week was a bit of a wake up call for a few fellas," Curgenven said.
"Guys didn't really turn up to play but we've given them another chance and we have to make sure we get a win over Tumut."
Wagga City have made just one change with James Maloney coming into the forward pack.
