After winning division four in 2017 to earn promotion, the side has its sights set on a strong showing and elevation to division two.
"The goal is to capture on local support to try and get into division two," Wagga Wagga Combined Hockey Association president Ken Larkin said.
"It will be a big challenge for them, we've got a pretty young team this year.
"We're very fortunate we've got the facilities to host championships of this size, we think they're some of the best in regional NSW."
Wagga plays Newcastle 2 (11.20am) and Bathurst (5.10pm) on Friday and Goulburn (11.20am) on Saturday in round games, before finals conclude on Sunday.
