Mater Dei Catholic College house leader Virginia Baggio said students have pulled out beanies for three years in a row in memory of a former student who died from brain cancer.
"We hold this day in memory of her and to support students, families and the broader community who are touched by cancer," she said.

The students raised $600 for The Mark Hughes Foundation, pushing the school's total up to nearly $2000.
"It's a fantastic effort to raise that amount in just one day. The students are really supportive of the day - they don't have to participate, but majority turn up with beanies or a donation," she said.
Ms Baggio said there were many football and fashionable beanies at the school. But, she said the highlight was rainbow unicorn beanies worn by two year 12 boys.
