Wagga City are the only side to get the better of the premiers in the first eight rounds of the season, but there was definitely no repeat of the round one upset at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday.
The Boiled Lollies ended a six-year losing streak against their closest rivals, while ending Waratahs' run of 16 straight wins, to start the season but it was a completely different match up this time around.
Waratahs coach Angus Stevenson thought the 77-18 win was one of the side's best all season.
"It is another step in the right direction and things are starting to gel," Stevenson said.
"There have been moments in other games where we have been better but it is probably for more of a prolonged period."
However Stevenson didn't believe the score really reflected the game or changes in the sides in the past two months.
"Last time we left a few points out there, a couple of things didn't go our way and we struggled to get momentum and that was probably the story of it.
"Last time they had momentum and played really well with that momentum and this time they just struggled to get it.
"If they had picked up momentum and got on the front foot they would have been really good."
James Grimmett scored a hat-trick while Chris Murray, Joe Reynolds and Tim Corcoran all bagged doubles.
Corcoran was among the team's best while Harry Hosegood also performed well after being pushed into the second row.
Hosegood generally plays as a loose forward with great success but with Sam Bunny's return from a head knock, Tahs looked to change things around.
"We've got some competition in the back row now with Dave Armstrong coming back, Sam O'Leary playing some good football there, Richie Lamont stepping into the back row and it's a matter of how you fit them all into one team," Stevenson said.
"Hosey would love to be playing loose but is fitting into the second row really well."
Meanwhile Leeton extended CSU's winless start to the season with a 60-17 win at Leeton No.1 Oval.
Giving lift to their finals prospects, last year's preliminary finalists conceded the opening try before 10 of the next 11 to score just their third win of the season.
The win moves them just three points outside the top four.
