Town pride is too.

It's been nine long years since the Blues got the better of the Tigers but they get another great chance to do so at Twickenham on Saturday.

Gundagai are yet to be beaten but Tumut have only lost once through the first eight rounds of the season.

Blues co-coach Dean Bristow expects it will be a massive day on and off the field.

"What makes this clash extra special is the way the towns get behind it and it means that little extra something for everyone," Bristow said. "We aren't just playing for ourselves but we are going out there and representing our town as well.

"With us being on the losing end for the last nine years it means that little bit extra."

Tumut have been buoyed by some positive injury news as they look to end their horror losing sequence.

Reigning Weissel Medal winner Zac Masters and Bristow have been cleared to play after both picked up leg complaints in the win over Kangaroos before the bye.

Bristow is just one of two players in the team who have beaten Gundagai in first grade, along with Ben Roddy, and while a win would mean plenty for the Blues supporters starved off success over the past decade, he isn't looking to place too much pressure on the improving side.

"Not only is it Tumut v Gundagai but it's one v two and we haven't beaten them for a long time," Bristow said.

"In saying that we've set ourselves up in a good position.

"We are not trying to focus on it too much but keep things in perspective as it is the halfway point of the season and we are still a long way off where we need to be.

"But it is a local derby so it will always have that little bit of extra in it."

With Masters and Bristow both given the all clear the Blues have named the same side as their last win.

Gundagai welcome back captain Luke Berkrey after he missed the 34-0 win over Southcity last time out.

A full round of junior games will only add to the big day while Tumut will also be wearing special jumpers for The Mindset Project and Gotcha4life.
