Unexpected delays have left the city wondering, but the CEO of QantasLink says Wagga is still 'in the running' to host the nation's second pilot academy.

The first academy was announced in September of last year, and will be built in southern Queensland.
"There are still seven cities - Wagga is one of them - in the running," said QantasLink CEO John Gissing, when he arrived in Wagga on Friday.
"We'll be choosing the very first cohort of lucky students who will start attending Toowoomba in late September, October this year. That has potential to grow to over 500 students a year."
Joining Wagga on the waiting list is Alice Springs, Bendigo, Busselton, Dubbo, Launceston, and Mackay.
"It has taken longer that we first expected, we've been very focused on getting Toowoomba up and running, and we hope we'll be ready in the not too distant future, to announce the winner of that second site."
