Now retired from Landmark he has shown his ability to meet the market with some exceptional extra-heavy lambs.
On Thursday his lambs from Bandywallop Pastoral Company topped the market to make a high of $340 and according to Landmark Wagga livestock agent Jarrod Slattery it was a deserving result.
Mr Slattery said the lambs, estimated to weigh 42 kilograms to 43 kilograms dressed weight, were bought by Fletcher International.
There were 93 in the pen and Mr Slattery commended the vendor on the finish.
He said the lambs were well shaped, heavy, and certainly not over fat.
"The market improved (on Thursday) and prices were $10 to $15 dearer than last week," Mr Slattery said.
He said the market gains, plus the quality of the lambs which were finished on a grazing canola crop, helped to produce the high return.
Before the sale the lambs were weighed and ranged from 80kg to 100kg to average 88kg (live weight).
"We were all pretty happy with the result," Mr Slattery said.
