A fix-it guru with a "world of knowledge" will be helping residents this Saturday turn trash into treasure in a bid to save more items from entering land fill.

Locals are encouraged to bring along a small piece of furniture that needs updating.
Wagga City Council's environmental education officer Sam Pascall said these items will be getting a new lease on life.
"Essentially we just want people to bring something that they want to fix in the house; so it's a small, non-electrical item and anything that can be carried," Ms Pascall said.
"It could be a chair with a wobbly leg, or coffee table you want to update."
The fix-it guru hosting the workshop at the Ngurra Youth Hub is council's maintenance coordinator who will be sharing advice and skills.
"It's really about using what we've got as we're in this generation that if something is broken, then we'll tend to throw it out," Ms Pascall said.
"We're trying to bring repairing back in, because we're throwing out a lot more and increasing our land fill.
"We really need to take a step back and think about what we can do to reuse a couple of items.
"Last time we ran this, everyone got together to problem solve and learn different upcycling skills too," she said.
Council encourages residents to book in for the free event on their website as there are plenty of spaces available.
