Gary Johnson, 39, of Kooringal, faced Wagga Local Court on Wednesday when he pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault.
Court documents state that in the early hours of March 15 this year at Kooringal Hotel, Johnson became aggressive and argumentative towards bar staff after they refused to serve him more drinks because he was too drunk.
Johnson, who works as an automotive window fitter, also began hitting the bar with a hammer fist.
When the two staff tried to escort him out, Johnson pushed one in the chest and and yelled "Let's have a go, hit me, you dog" at another before punching him in the face.
Police arrived shortly after to arrest Johnson.
In court, magistrate Christopher Halburd said that this type of offence is "something that's prevalent in modern community".
"People go to licensed premises, they have too much to drink, they're asked to leave, they don't want to leave and things escalate," Mr Halburd said.
"[Now] you find yourself before the court because you assaulted two people."
However, he said he accepted that Johnson is remorseful and ashamed of his actions.
"It should be a wake-up call to you to do something about your drinking because you clearly understand that there's a link between your drinking and this offending," Mr Halburd said.
Johnson was given a 12-month community corrections order with supervision at Wagga.
He was also fined $200 for one offence and ordered to do 50 hours of community service for the other.
Earlier during the hearing, defence solicitor Nico Rump described Johnson as a "family man" whose actions at the pub were out of character.
Mr Rump said the offences came about due to relationship problems Johnson was experiencing.
