Athletes Foot has been in its current Baylis Street location for about 14 years and will move into the former Evans Shoes store.
Owner Colin Peisley said it was high rent which drove the store further down the main street, not footwear competition.
"We had the opportunity as we were up to our five-year lease and to be honest the rent was probably too high," he said.
"There was a large rental difference, which was ridiculous and crazy...but we got a good deal, it's a larger shop front, and we're happy.
"I actually think being located next to Evans Shoes would have benefited both of us; we're kind of different markets, but it was never a concern and it was certainly not a reason for us to move."
Mr Peisley said it was important for the store to keep it's customer service and remain competitive as there will always be an online threat.
"We've still got great loyalty and obviously online will always be our greatest threat, but it's up to us to do good customer service," he said.
"We will be one of the first stores in Australia to launch this 3D technology, which will mean our old measuring devices will go.
"Now a person will stand on a 3D scanner for three seconds and that will give us the exact length, width and arch measurements and then they'll turn to walk off a pad and that will let us know they're walking styling."
The new store is planning to open in the first week of July, with the handover occurring on June 23.
Assistant market manager Caitlin Howell said a new hospitality store, Sandwich Chef, will also be opening inside Marketplace by the end of the month.
Sandwich Chef is looking to open to the community on June 26, but this date is yet to be confirmed. The store will be located in the food court.
"We're excited to continue the national expansion of Sandwich Chefs, what makes us unique is the freshness of our product and wide variety to choose from," said CEO Chris Ferguson.
"Our roast pork and beef options are slow roasted for 14 hours in-store; our salads, wraps and juices are make fresh daily.
"We also have a make your own range where customers can build a custom sandwich masterpiece of their own."
This store will be among 60 Sandwich Chef's across the country.
