The NSW Government has encouraged residents to have their say and help shape the future of the Wagga Special Activation Precinct when its Planning Van arrives on Wednesday and Thursday.

Department of Premier and Cabinet Regional Director for Wagga James Bolton told The Daily Advertiser that staff would be on hand to answer questions.

"It's a really good opportunity for the community to get involved in how the final master plan shapes up," he said.

Wagga has one of just two Special Activation Precincts in the state, which are designed to deliver "faster and simplified planning and approval processes" to attract new businesses as well as providing new infrastructure investment from the state government.

Mr Bolton said there had been a lot of consultation with the community and business sector over the years that the precinct had been in the works.

"A lot of the interest from the businesses out there is how we can improve or do a lot of the legwork around environmental studies and heritage studies to make their ability to invest in their factories and businesses much easier," he said.

Residents have previously brought up the possibility of planting trees as a barrier between industrial zones and residential and farming properties.

"That's the sort of thing we expect to hear and we're keen to hear," Mr Bolton said.

"That sort of information definitely goes into the development of the master plan."

Mr Bolton said preliminary work on the Wagga Special Activation Precinct was progressing well, including planning studies of 4100 hectares around the Bomen Industrial Estate, which are currently underway.

"Along with the community comments already collected, these planning studies will provide the environment, cultural heritage, infrastructure, transport, access and economic information required to develop a comprehensive draft master plan," Mr Bolton said.
