About 3pm on Friday, police stopped a Holden Commodore utility travelling north on the Sturt Highway, Borambola.

Police spoke to the driver, a 46-year-old Central Coast man, and his male passenger, a 45-year-old Central Coast man, before they searched the vehicle and allegedly found and seized 34 packages of more than 19kg of cannabis.

Both men were arrested and taken to Wagga Police Station.

The driver has been charged with supply cannabis, supply prohibited drug, and two counts of resist police officer in the execution of duty.

The second man was charged with supply cannabis and supply prohibited drug.

Both men were granted conditional bail to appear at Wagga Local Court on June 19 this year.

The incident comes during police's Operation Stay Alert in which there have been more than 2100 breath tests, 38 infringement notices and four drink driving charges yesterday across the state's southern region.

Police are targeting all speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle/helmet offences - all of which attract double demerit points.

Operation Stay Alert began on Friday and will end 11.59pm on Monday.

Tragically on Friday night, a 91-year-old man died in a multi-vehicle crash in southern NSW.

About 5pm, emergency services were called to Binda, about 65km north of Goulburn, and found four vehicles had collided in sequence.

Two rescue helicopters were called to the scene and police worked with officers from NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW, as well as volunteers from local RFS and SES units.

Four others involved in the incident were taken to hospital.

Yesterday, a 34-year-old male motorcycle rider died after he was involved in a crash with a truck in Riverstone in Sydney's west.

In the Wagga LGA, latest data by the Centre for Road Safety shows that 19 people lost their lives in vehicle crashes between 2013 and 2017 while 526 were seriously injured in the same period.
