Richards will be joined by Rebeka Prest in competing in the Racing NSW Rising Star Series Final at the Kensington track at Randwick.
It will be Richards' first ride in the city and one he is looking forward to.
"It should be good," Richards said.
"It will be a good experience and there's probably not as much pressure in the apprentice race so it's a good one to start out in."
Richards has been drawn to ride the Neil Osborne-trained Friskee One in the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1400m).
Prest will ride Pembroke Castle for Chris Waller.
Prest sits in 10th spot in the series and Richards 14th.
Richards is happy to be teaming up with Osborne on Friskee One.
"I've ridden a couple of times for him and my first ride for him was a winner at Canberra," he said.
"I've raced against (Friskee One) a few times and it can go pretty good."
The race is at 3.10pm on Monday.
