Roads and Maritime Services is developing a project to improve the Old Narrandera Road and Travers Street junctions and is asking the community to submit their feedback.
North Wagga resident and truck driver Peter Dawson uses the highway a lot as Estella develops.
"The main problem is the sheer volume of traffic at different times from Barbeques Galore to the university," he said.
"Lights would be better at the Travers Street intersection because at peak hour it can be a standstill at that roundabout.
"Old Narrandera Road is a bad intersection as it is not clear for drivers what to do."
A representative for the Wagga Ratepayers Association chief, Lynne Bodell, said she was disappointed the RMS would not be including a plan to duplicate the Gobbagombalin bridge.
"I use the road every day," she said. "I see a lot of near misses, particularly at the Old Narrandera Road intersection when people don't know who to give way to.
"An overpass, like the one at Estella, would be an ideal solution, but there probably won't be the budget for it."
Ms Bodell said she didn't think the intersections were particularly problematic, but rather the congested traffic led to drivers making poor decisions.
"People should make sure to submit their feedback so it represents what the community wants," she said.
Roads and Maritime is investigating road and intersection upgrades at the Olympic Highway intersections with Old Narrandera Road and Travers Street and widening the Sturt Highway to four lanes over Marshall's Creek in Wagga.
"Traffic growth as a result of increased land development to the north of Wagga is placing increasing pressure on the intersections of Travers Street and Old Narrandera Road, either side of the bridge," an online statement said.
RMS has made sure to emphasise that future duplication of the Gobbagombalin Bridge is not a part of this project.
Road users are asked to focus on their experiences, detail all incidents and concerns at particular locations and consider the environment, traffic and road safety, property and access, public transport and parking in their feedback online.
