Around 30 minutes into the match, a quick throw-in by Hanwood opened up space for Nick Kennedy, who had his shot for goal saved.

But Michael Cimador was on hand to clean up the scraps and secure another three points for the competition leaders.

Hanwood is still yet to concede a goal eight games into their return to the Wagga competition, and have found the back of the net 38 times.

"It was a pretty scrappy game, it probably wasn't one of our better games for the year," Agresta said.

"We didn't seem to settle and played their game a bit. Leeton on a Tuesday night is tough, it's hard enough to go over there at the best of times."

The result sets up a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash against defending premiers Lake Albert at Rawlings Park on Sunday, June 16, with the competition to go on hiatus over the long weekend.

After a sluggish start to the season the Sharks have won their last three games to shoot to equal second with Henwood Park, who accounted for winless South Wagga 5-2 on Tuesday night.

"Being defending premiers they're definitely going to be one of the teams to beat for the competition," Agresta said.

"Some teams do tend to start off a bit slow and looking at their results the last few weeks, you can see they're starting to build.

"I think everyone's going to want to be the one to knock us off first, but that's part and parcel of it.

"We want to keep ticking along and we're doing that at the moment."

Meanwhile, a last-gasp penalty allowed Leeton United to advance to the State Cup quarter finals with a 1-0 win over Kemps Creek United on Saturday.
