The location was towards the front of 130 Hammond Ave, east of the Kooringal Road roundabout.
The council said Roads and Maritime Services had widened the road, removing the kerbside shoulder which has now caused the tree to become a hazard for motorists exiting the property.
West bound traffic will be affected between 9.30am to 3pm.
The council said traffic controls would be in place.
