The event, which last year drew in more than 1100 participants, is aiming raise more than $150,000 for the Cancer Council.

Relay for Life committee members and Kooringal Rotary Club hosted a breakfast beside Lake Albert to entice any last early bird sign-ups.

Committee member Greg Johnson said teams for the 24-hour relay could still sign up online or by contacting the committee.

"We're just about to start advertising that we're having the Relay for Life on the 19^th and 20^th of October," he said.

"We decided to have the official launch barbecue at Apex Park for something different, in conjunction with Parkrun.

"We are also selling raffle tickets."

The raffle's major prizes include a $2500 savings account, flights and accommodation in Sydney or Melbourne, a $975 gym membership, an $850 photography session and a Weber Family Q barbecue.

Committee member Linda Hoey said the event was now in the stage of working on the "final logistics" for the event, which will again be held at Connelly Oval.

"We would like to see 80 teams take part," she said.

"We have registered 23 teams so far and we'd love to see the number of people skyrocket to 1200 or 1300."
