Gardner injured his calf in the first half of last week's 5-2 home loss to Weston Molonglo and played no further part.
His brother and teammate Fred said while it's a big loss the Wanderers remain confident they can keep their perfect record at home this season alive.
The Wanderers are currently fourth on the National Premier League Two standings, and need a win to keep the chasing pack at bay.
"He's been going to the physio, he's been looking after it but it's still hurting him," Fred said.
"It wasn't too bad, touch wood, and it was lucky he didn't continue to play."
Fred said the Weston Molonglo result could have been different had his second half goal not been controversially disallowed for offside.
Saturday's match gets underway at 3pm.
