A fast start proved the difference as TRAC edged out Mater Dei Catholic College 6.2 (38) to 4.3 (27) at Robertson Oval.
TRAC booted four goals to one in the opening quarter to establish a handy 18-point buffer.
Mater Dei closed within a goal late in the third quarter but TRAC replied with the next two to seal victory.
TRAC coach Michael Glanvill was pleased with his boys' performance.
"It was really good. It was a tough, hard-fought game. They followed the plan and had a crack in obviously tough, ordinary conditions," Glanvill said.
"It was really pleasing actually. They changed it back to year seven-eight this year so this was the first time they have played together so it was good."
TRAC progress through to the Southern NSW finals on June 12.
The competition was changed this year from an under 15 competition to year seven and eight.
