Delivered continued his rich vein of form with victory in the $12,000 Wagga Plumbing Service Kurrajong Cup (1200m) at Wagga.
A top field of sprinters assembled for the sky two feature and it was Delivered ($4.20) who wore down Fashion Tip ($7.50) at the finish to claim honours.
Reigning Snake Gully Cup champion My Maher ($7.00) found the line nicely for third.
Heywood was pleased to see Delivered break through for another win.
"It was good, it was probably overdue," Heywood said.
"He probably should have won last start (at Parkes) and Matty (Cahill) said that himself.
"His form since I've put the shades on him, he's been enormous."
Heywood is keen to run Delivered at Wagga on Tuesday week but then will weigh up whether to spell the six-year-old with the time-honoured Gundagai feature in mind.
"I've got that race at the next Wagga meeting picked out for him but I'm contemplating putting him in the paddock and bringing him back for the Snake Gully," he said.
"At this stage we'll go to the race here on Tuesday week and then make a decision from there."
Delivered has been no further back than fifth at his past five starts. The win on Saturday was his second success during that period to go with a second in the Town Plate Prelude at Wagga and a fourth in the Satellite at Parkes.
He was ridden a treat by Mathew Cahill on Saturday, as he and Fashion Tip cleared out to fight out the finish.
Heywood was happy to win the feature race on Kurrajong Waratah charity race day, one of the biggest meetings in Wagga for the year.
"It's nice to win a Cup anywhere," he said.
"There were some nice horses in that race today, especially for the money."
Meantime, Jerilderie-based apprentice jockey Tyler Schiller continued his fine start to his riding career with a winning double at Wagga on Saturday.
Schiller rode Pleasant ($2.50) to an impressive win for his boss Phil Sweeney in the Thomas Bros Group Class Three Handicap (1200m).
It was the six-year-old's first start for Sweeney after previously racing in Victoria.
Schiller made it a race-to-race double by guiding Gypsy Miss ($2.60) toa dominant victory in the Pirtek Benchmark 58 Handicap (1800m).
It was Gypsy Miss's fourth straight win since joining the Luke Pepper stable.
