Kurrajong Race Day is known for its wide appeal - from serious punters and horse racing enthusiasts to social racegoers and families. And the 31st event is on this Saturday, May 25.
Last year, an estimated 5000 people flooded into the Murrumbidgee Turf Club. But, be warned children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Cathie Smith, manager of the Kurrajong Foundation, has a handy list of four tips that you need to know before the day.
Ms Smith said it promises to be a great day and it will be a children's delight and hundreds of volunteers work hard to make the day a success.
1. Pre-purchase tickets
If you want to take advantage of the hospitality, you'll need to get in quick. You can bag them from Hunters 1866, Kincaid Street Cafe and Takeaway and Fitzpatricks Real estate.
You can pay at the gate on the day, but you won't get the benefits.
2. Take the kids
It's a family-friendly event by any standard. In fact, children are especially well looked after, with food and refreshments in their own hospitality area, plus an lots of rides and entertainment.
3. The money goes where?
Proceeds from the day benefit Kurrajong's work, which is to provide programs and support to over 1300 babies, children and adults with disabilities throughout the Riverina-Murray region.
Benefits from this particular race day will help fund the Hildasid Farm project.
The proceeds of the 2019 Kurrajong Race Day will allow the project to continue to be developed with the commencement of the village green, a massive tree planting initiative and development of a citrus orchard, chicken caravan, people's forest and walkways in the near future.
4. Dress for the occasion
We're looking at a sunny day by all accounts, but make sure to wear some warmer clothes. The Bureau of Meteorology states it will be partly cloudy with a high (70 per cent) chance of showers, but most likely in the evening.
Light winds becoming northwesterly 15 to 20 kilometres per hour in the middle of the day then becoming light in the late afternoon. The maximum temperature of the day will be 22 degrees.
