The project, jointly funded by Wagga City Council and a $200,000 grant from the NSW government, has seen the indoor pools closed for most of this month.
Contractors have already removed 1800 square metres of old tiles, the equivalent of 200 average home bathrooms, and on Wednesday were resurfacing the men's and women's toilets and shower floors.
Oasis Centre's Maurice Eames said the project would improve safety by installing slip-resistant tiles as part of first major upgrade scheduled since the complex opened 16 years ago.
"The tiling is on track and the scheduling is going very well," he said.
"We are continuing in the male and female toilets at the moment and we are on track to have them open by the 23rd of June.
"We will have the contractors on site until September. It is an $800,000 job that council has invested in for the community and during that time there will be limited disruptions but we will continue to have the indoor pool open every day."
The tiles will be replaced with the highest grade slip-resistant tiles, which will improve pool users' safety when walking around the complex.
Additional drainage grates will be installed throughout the poolside area and change rooms to improve drainage and prevent water pooling on the floor.
Mr Eames said the new tiles, which would also go in the disabled toilets and showers, would feature "brighter colours" and help differentiate between the male and female facilities.
"We had issues with the previous tiles. For once, we will have fantastic tiles," he said.
"The easiest way to describe the previous tiles was like walking on slippery ice and these tiles will be non-slip where everyone will have more accessibility and ease and less problems entering the facility."
As of Wednesday, new tiles had yet to be placed in areas around the outside of the main toilets and around the shallower children's pools.
The toilets and change rooms will be shut from late June and temporary toilets and change rooms available.
Wagga council had been searching for ways to improve the tile situation at Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre since early last year, with non-replacement options proving unsatisfactory.
"It's very needed; the tiles were the original tiles and had met their use-by date," Mr Eames said.
