Wear Orange Wednesday was just a small gesture of gratitude for the SES volunteers, and one Wagga lady said joining the team four and a half years ago was the best decision she ever made.
"I love helping out the community in times of need and going out when they're vulnerable or need assistance," Allisyn Dickson said.
Miss Dickson, who joined the SES to 'help make the community better', said it was a fulfilling challenge.
"It's really rewarding, looking at peoples faces when we are able to help them and the gratitude they have for that," she said.
"Any of the floods we've had were really memorable, it was incredible to be able to support people, but everything we do is a highlight."
The dedicated volunteer said the SES team at Wagga had become her family.
"I met my partner through SES, and my brother is also a volunteer, so it really is just like a big family," she said.
Wagga's mayor Greg Conkey joined in the show of thanks, donned in an orange tie for the occasion.
"We are very proud to have so many volunteers in the city, they work hard and are available at times of emergencies and disasters," he said.
"They're there, ready and able when a disaster strikes, and we really appreciate all the work they do."
