Wagga High School moved one win away from their first Carroll Cup final in 24 years after easily accounting of Kooringal High School at Robertson Oval on Wednesday night.
Wagga High will take on Mater Dei Catholic College in the first semi-final after proving too good for Kooringal High, 8.8 (56) to 3.3 (21).
A fast start proved all the difference as Wagga High opened up a 39-point lead at half-time. Kooringal then fought tenaciously in the second half but were unable to make any serious inroads.
Wagga High coach Heath Russell was proud of his team.
"Obviously we've got a big rivalry with Kooringal, we've had a lot of good contests so to get the job done is pleasing and I'm sure the boys are pretty happy," Russell said.
"We're guaranteed another two games at least, which is good. We've got the chance to make some history for the school, which would be to make the final."
Meantime, Kildare Catholic College ensured they finished on top of Pool A with a 34-point win over The Riverina Anglican College (TRAC) 9.4 (58) to 3.6 (24).
TRAC were still in the contest at half-time but Kildare kicked the only three goals of the second half to record a comfortable win.
Kildare coach Peter Gaffney was happy with the performance ahead of a semi-final clash with TRAC again next week.
"I was pretty impressed at our consistent effort over the whole game," Gaffney said.
"We identified a few issues that we'll have to fix up at training and then we'll go again next week."
