Amaru Rose, 10, and Mundarra Rose, 9 have so far passed through the first two rounds of auditioning, with one final step to prove they're ready for the big screen.
Mum Emily Brown said they were already a hit with the production crew after sending a photo through in February. "When we first auditioned we heard back within 24 hours that they wanted a short video of the boys, so we were very lucky," she said.
If successful, the pair will be cast in major roles as sons of the main character, played by The Sapphires and Wentworth star, Leah Purcell.
Round two of auditions involved recording the boys telling a story about their lives.
"I told them about how I fell off my motorbike straight onto my bottom one time," Amaru said.
Mundarra had a deeper story to tell. "He was told he had six hours to live when he was younger, and has been quite an unwell child so he told them about how that has affected him, and how he was in a wheelchair for a while but now wins medals in athletics," Ms Brown said.
The boys will hear whether or not they're successful in the next four weeks.
