Lovell is one of several familiar faces named in the AFL Canberra squad to face Riverina League at Football Park in Canberra on Saturday.

Lovell joined AFL Canberra club Queanbeyan this season and has impressed enough over the opening month to be named in the representative squad.

Former Farrer League footballers James McCabe, Lachlan Highfield, Daniel Jordan and Stephen Camp are also in the AFL Canberra squad, along with Griffith product Henry Delves.

Lovell is looking forward to the prospect of taking on his former teammates, should he be selected.

"I can't wait. I've been with the RFL boys for the last three or four years and my goal was to play in the Canberra rep team when I came here," Lovell said.

"When I found out we were playing RFL it was even better. It should be good fun. I hope Nick Ryan is playing because I've been in his ear for a while."

Lovell was part of the Riverina League team that went down to AFL Canberra by 40 points at Robertson Oval two years ago.

He has found the AFL Canberra competition to be a step up.

"I reckon it's a little bit quicker and the skills are probably a bit better," Lovell said.

"But there is only six teams, and it's the same top four every year."

Lovell believes the availability of the best players will determine how Saturday's interleague fixture plays out.

"It's hard to say. I know it's a battle to get the better players to play (for Riverina) and it's the same with the Canberra boys," he said.

"It's hard to know how many of the best players are playing. I know I want to play, but that's just me."

AFL Canberra will train twice this week, while Riverina League will hold their final training session at Narrandera Sportsground on Thursday night.

Meantime, key forwards Damian Cupido and Myles Aalbers have pulled out of the Hume League team set to tackle Farrer League at Osborne on Saturday.
