Class Clown went back-to-back in the $32,000 Parkes Gold Cup (1600m), after Heywood won the 2017 edition with Leucura.
Class Clown ($4.60) exploded away to win by 2.8 lengths from the Gary Colvin-trained Danetrille ($4.40) in an all-Wagga finish.
It was a strong return to form from Class Clown after he finished last in the Wagga Gold Cup (2000m).
Heywood was delighted to defend his crown at Parkes again.
"Definitely, a cup's a cup, I like winning any cup," Heywood said.
"I don't know why but Wagga-trained horses have a very good record in the race."
Mathew Cahill gave Class Clown a charmed run just behind the leaders, before getting clear running early in the straight and racing away.
"I don't reckon I've seen him accelerate like he did today," he said.
Heywood also had Delivered (fourth) and Fermanagh Lad (seventh) in the feature sprint, the Satellite Handicap (1200m).
