The two squads for the clash at Leeton No.1 Oval on Sunday have been finalised and McCarthy is pleased with the line-up he's been able to assemble.
"I still think we have a great side there," McCarthy said.
"It's a good mix of experienced players as well as some up and comers in the zone as well."
Leeton and Griffith both contribute seven players while Tumut has five.
Among the biggest names is the returning Liam Krautz, who will play his first game back in the region before linking with Albury once more.
Tom Boyle, Jack Hassett and Charlie McIntosh are all out through injury while Harrison Friswell is out with illness.
City's side feature representatives from the top three teams, however McCarthy expects the Country side will be up to the task.
"Tumut have been really strong to start the season, they had not their greatest game last week, but have shown this year they can go toe-to-toe with most sides and we've got a good influence of those players," he said.
"What you'll find is the Wagga sides have potentially some more depth in their clubs and a couple of injuries to the Country players can thin out their first grade sides pretty quickly.
"When you take the best of those County players and put them together in an environment where they are playing with other guys of a rep standard we are going to see some really good football for them."
The junior gala day starts at 9am with City v Country at 3pm.
McCarthy believes it is a great initiative to have both juniors and seniors together.
"It will be great for young girls and boys to see potentially where they can be if they stay with rugby," he said.
