Lazarus has been locked in for his first down under breeding season at Wagga in what is a massive coup for the NSW breeding industry.

Yirribee principal Rod Woodhouse is thrilled to have a stallion of his calibre.

"He's the high profile horse NSW have been missing," Woodhouse said.

"Every stud in Australia and New Zealand was chasing him and that is the calibre of what they think the horse is.

"He's a beautifully bred horse, an unbelievable race horse and has ticked all the boxes so far."

Lazarus' career spanned four countries.

He scored 37 wins and 12 placings from 51 starts with career earnings exceeding $4 million.

He was twice named the Australasian Grand Circuit champion with two New Zealand Cup wins, an Inter Dominion, Hunter Cup and Victoria Cup among his 15 group one successes before making a move to North America last year.

There he set a career best time of 1:48.6 and won another group one.

Club Menangle struck a deal with his US based owners to stand Lazarus at Yirribee.

"We're very greatly for Club Menangle for purchasing the horse," Woodhouse said.

"We took a proposal to them and they accepted it and have been doing all the negotiations.

"It should be a good thing as all of their profits go back into the industry and that is a big plus for the industry."

Woodhouse expects the son of Bettors Delight will continue the great work of his sire.

He will stand at $10,000 and his book will be restricted.

Woodhouse will finalise that figure later but expects he will only be available for around 100 or 125 serves in both Australia and New Zealand.

Lazarus is standing for the same figure in the United States at the moment and is expected to be shuttled to Wagga in August.
