The broadway musical will star 140 students from years seven through to 12, and feature their own band and production crew.
Two of the star performers, Sam Butt and Sam Campbell-McCrea, portray the characters Link Larkin and Corny Collins and said they can't wait for showtime.
"My character Corny Collins is a dynamic TV host and the director Michael Mack said he was someone like Ed Sullivan or Tony Barber and I said, 'Who?' and he said, 'Think Grant Denyer' and then I got it," Mr Campbell-McCrea said.
"I love the struggle this guy goes through. He wants fame but he realizes there's a cost. His love interest Tracy challenges him to act with principle and not just with self-interest," Sam Butt said of his character.
The first show opens this Thursday night at the Civic Theatre, with screenings running through until Sunday, May 18.
