The new-look Tigers had to battle hard to secure their third win in four games against a depleted GGGM outfit missing key players Olivia Hounsell, Megan Porter and Ruby Porter.
"It wasn't our best game by any means, but a win's a win," Allen said.
"It (three wins from four games) wasn't what we were expecting, we thought we'd have to work into it a bit more but we're happy with how we've started.
"We're just trying to get more consistent and with a younger team that's going to take a while to build. It seems to be our issue at the moment, we have good patches of play but it doesn't last long enough.
GGGM player Alice Kenny has also taken on the coaching role for the first time this year, and was encouraged by her team's competitiveness.
"It was good to see the depth we have in our team, to be so competitive with so many out," Kenny said.
"The second quarter really let us down, but we're looking forward to playing them again with everyone in.
"It (playing and coaching) has been challenging, I'm finding my feet but having supportive people come into the side has helped."
In other results on the weekend Collingullie-Glenfield Park maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 62-36 win over Leeton-Whitton, Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes did likewise with a 46-30 victory against Coolamon and Griffith thrashed Narrandera 79-41.
