Held at the Wagga Model Aero Club flying field in Uranquinty from today until Sunday, the event has a proud history of being the longest-running scale competition event in Australia.
This year's event includes various scale aircraft from WWI, WWII and military.
Club president BJ Padman encouraged residents to attend "to see accurate reproductions of military aircraft from all the theatres of conflict Australia has been involved in".
"[Air Force] Cadets will conduct a flag-raising event and we'll have a flypass from a P51 Mustang," Mr Padman said.
"There'll also be a virtual-reality flight simulator for the public to have a go at."
At 11am on Saturday, the event will hold a service for Anzac Day.
The annual event attracts scale modellers come from all over the nation.
"The planes are fully scratch-built models to kit-purchase models," Mr Padman said.
"They'll be judged on two components - flying where the competitors undertake 10 aerial maneuvers, including land off and take off.
"As well as static judgement, which is about how faithful the models are against the real thing.
"Their flying and static scores contribute to overall scores."
There is also a flying-only category, aimed at opening up the event to more people.
"Competitors are judged on flying ability, not on scale representation so it opens it up and makes it easier," Mr Padman said.
Judging the competition are the number 332nd squadron from the Wagga-based Australian Air Force Cadets.
Full camping facilities, including a canteen, are available at the event.
The club's flying field is off the Olympic Highway at Uranquinty runs from 9am - 4pm across Friday to Sunday.
Entry is free and attendees may donate funds to local air force cadets.
